Justin Bieber shows up on ‘Extreme Makeover: Home Edition,” remembers victim of texting and driving

Whew, that is a lot of concepts.

Justin Bieber showed up on Extreme Makeover: Home Edition last night, joining the crew in Wellman, Texas, as they did a home makeover for a family who lost a teenage daughter to an accident caused by texting while driving. The Brown family were aided by Bieber in getting the word out about the “Remember Alex Brown” foundation, started by the Browns after the death of their daughter to warn teens not to text while operating vehicles.

Brown’s mother Jeanne spoke recently to high school kids about the accident, lamenting:

“Alex made choices and those choices cost her her life… The last thing I could do for my daughter was pick out her headstone,” Brown told students.

She explains the sequence of events in the accident that lead to Alex Brown’s death:

“Her pick up had gone of the road because she was texting and driving and flipped & she wasn’t wearing her seat belt so she was thrown out of the vehicle & it landed it on top of her, crushing her,” said Jeanne Brown.

Her father Johnny says that managing the Remember Alex Brown foundation is very painful, but ultimately worth the hardship:

“Every time we give our presentation, in our minds, we’re reliving that day, but it’s worth it. It’s worth any sacrifice we have to make or any pain we have to go through so that no other family has to go through what we go through, because it’s 100% preventable,” said Johnny Mac Brown.

Emma Roberts also appeared on the show, helping get the word out to teens not to text while driving.
