Meryl Streep As A Witch In ‘Into The Woods’ [Photo]

Meryl Streep makes a pretty scary witch. The Oscar winning actress has started filming on Into The Woods and she’s barely recognizable in the new movie.

Disney released the first image from the new movie today giving a glimpse of Streep as she makes her way through the woods.

Disney writes that Into The Woods is a :humorous and heartfelt musical” inspired by some of the Brothers Grimm fairy tails. The modern twist will have Streep playing a witch who wishes to reverse a curse and have her beauty restored.

Disney writes: “The humorous and heartfelt musical, a modern twist on the beloved Brothers Grimm fairy tales, explores the consequences of the quests of Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Jack and the Beanstalk and Rapunzel—all tied together by an original story involving a baker and his wife, and the witch who cast a spell on them.”

Principal photography has already started on Into The Woods. In addition to Streep, the new movie will star Anna Kendrick and Chris Pine. Johnny Depp will play “The Wolf” in the new movie.

Into The Woods will hit theaters on December 25, 2014.
