Michgan state guard Korie Lucious dismissed from Spartans for ‘detrimental’ conduct

Junior point guard Korie Lucious has been cut from the Michigan State Spartans, shortly after the player tweeted, “Man did I really mess up this time…off 2 the gym I go!”

Coaches did not elaborate as to precisely why Lucious was dismissed from the team, but a DUI charge and disciplinary action for skipping classes have been cited as contributing factors by press. In a statement, Spartans coach Tom Izzo said:

“Unfortunately, Korie Lucious displayed conduct detrimental to the program… My focus is on this team for the remainder of the season.”

Lucious also released a statement about the decision to cut him from the team, reading in part:

“I didn’t live up to the standards of the program. Unfortunately, I let my teammates, my coaches, and myself down, and wish them the best for the rest of the season.”

Michigan State is set to host rival in-state team the Wolverines tomorrow night.
