SpongeBob 2: Antonio Banderas Heads To Georgia To Start Filming

SpongeBob may live in a pineapple under the sea but his movie is going to be filmed in Georgia. Antonio Banderas and the rest of the cast for SpongeBob 2 are on their way to Savannah to start shooting the new movie.

According to Savannah Morning News, Banderas will film a few live-action scenes for the Spongebob Squarepants sequel on Tybee Island later this month. He will also shoot a few scenes in Savannah.

Jay Self, of the Savannah Downtown Business Association, said: “This is going to be one of those films that every kid in the world is going to want to see and their parents are going to have to take them.”

The first Spongebob Squarepants movie was released in 2004 and grossed more than $140 million worldwide. The first movie featured voice actors Tom Kenny and Clancy Brown as well as actors like Jeffrey Tambor, Alec Baldwin, Scarlett Johansson and David Hasselhoff. Spongebob 2 will feature Antonio Banderas.

Banderas may be best known for playing characters like El Mariachi in Desperado but he’s also done several kid movies including Spy Kids and Shrek.

The new movie is scheduled to hit theaters Feb 13, 2015.
