Woman Yells ‘Gun’ Inside Movie Theater After Man Urinates On Teenager

Tigard, OR – A woman yelled “gun” inside a crowded movie theater on Friday evening after two men got inside a confrontation during a screening of the film Prisoners.

According to Tigard Police Department spokesman Jim Wolf, the incident began after a 70-year-old man allegedly urinated on a 14-year-old boy who was trying to enjoy the movie. Understandably upset by the man’s behavior, the boy’s father decided to confront the moviegoer.

The woman who yelled “gun” was reportedly confused by what was happening during the Prisoners screening. When things got heated between the two men, she believed one of them was carrying a firearm. Her declaration understandably panicked the other patrons in the theater.

The Associated Press reports that terrified moviegoers quickly ran out of the theater after the woman yelled “gun.” Lieutenant Erick Boothby said other people repeating the alarm ultimately resulted in the panic.

After police arrived on the scene, they soon determined that no one had a gun in their possession during the Prisoners showing. Officers believe that the woman who caused the panic is suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder.

“She was having an episode because of the movie and the emotion in the theater with the lights out. She seemed very confused and upset over the whole matter,” Boothby said.

Police said the 70-year-old man and the teenager’s father got into a confrontation that involved a fair amount of yelling and screaming. At one point during the struggle, the father wrestled the older man to the floor. It’s unclear if the man was drunk or had medical problems.

According to the AP, authorities took the older man home once things settled down. It’s currently unknown if any charges will be pressed against the man who urinated on the teenager or the woman who yelled “gun” inside the crowded movie theater.
