One Direction star Liam Payne and his fellow boy singers apologized on Sunday after leaving 200 female fans in tears.
The group landed at Adelaide Airport in Australia and then snuck through the airport without greeting their overly excited audience.
The boys flew to Australia on Sunday after catching a flight from Dubai on Saturday night. The group is in Australia to perform for their highly anticipated Take Me Home tour.
The 200 female fans were waiting for hours to greet Payne, Zayn Malik and Louis Tomlinson. Instead of greeting the girls the boys took a backdoor out of the airport.
In a tweet sent on Sunday Payne told his groups fans:
“Sorry we couldn’t stop in the airport they said it wasn’t safe???? great to be in oz tho (sic).”
Some of the girls spent upwards of 13 hours waiting for the chance to meet One Direction. Speaking to News Corp Australia one 17-year-old fan proclaims:
“I just feel really let down because we were so excited to see them and the least they could have done was poke their head out and wave before they left.”
Fans may still be able to catch a glimpse of Harry Styles and Niall Horan when they join the other boys on Monday.
Ahead of his arrival Horan tweeted:
“This is gona be soo fun! I love it down under! Obsessed! Gona be a huge 5 weeks! Between aus and nz! U ready for TMHT.”
The guys of One Direction will play three sold-out shows at the Adelaid Entertainment Centre beforing heading to Perth, Christchurch and Auckland. They will then return for shows in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane.
Do you think One Direction fans had good reason to be angry or should they have come up with a better plane for meeting their idols?
