Kenzie Dalton And Chad Michael Murray Call Off Engagement

Kenzie Dalton and Chad Michael Murray met on the set of One Tree Hill and dated for seven years, but there will be no happy ending for them.

The two announced this week that they had ended their engagement and broken up.

It seems the 32-year-old actor and his girlfriend may have actually split some time before, judging by a statement from his representative.

“Chad Michael Murray and Kenzie Dalton quietly parted ways earlier in the year,” Chad’s rep told Us Weekly on Friday. “Please respect their privacy at this time.”

The two met on the set of One Tree Hill. Chad played central character Lucas Scott, while Dalton was an extra who played a cheerleader. Dalton was still just a senior in high school when the two got engaged in 2006.

Since leaving the show that same year, Kenzie Dalton has made scattered appearances in Hollywood. She was seen in episodes of CSI: Miami and New Girl, as well as the television movie Beverly Hills Cop.

Chad Michael Murray has failed to find his breakout role since completing One Tree Hill in 2012, but has appeared in some movies including Fruitvale Station and the television series Southland. He also has a handful of movies in various stages of production, including Left Behind and Tyler Perry’s A Madea Christmas.

The breakup is a bit of a surprise given Chad Michael Murray’s public professions of love for Dalton.

In a 2012 interview, he spoke lovingly about his then-fiancee.

“She is a little stunner,” he told Us Weekly. “She is a sweetheart. She is my best friend and we have been together a long time.”

This is now Chad Michael Murray’s second failed relationship to come out of One Tree Hill. Before ending his engagement with Kenzie Dalton, he was once married to costar Sophia Bush, who played Brooke Davis on the series. They dated for two years before getting married in April 2005, but after only five months Sophia filed for an annulment.
