Henry Blackaby was missing for more than 24 hours, but the Baptist minister and Experiencing God author was finally found safe on Friday.
Blackaby had been missing since Thursday afternoon after leaving his home near Atlanta. Henry suffers diabetes, and family members feared that he may have been affected by the condition and unable to find his way back home.
On Friday his family posted a message that Henry Blackaby was no longer missing, and thanked supporters for their prayers.
“The Blackaby family would like everyone to know that Henry has been found and is safe. His health concerns are being addressed and we will keep everyone posted with the news. We wish to express to everyone our appreciation and gratitude for the prayers and concern over the last 29 hours. Henry has taught us that we can experience God in the good and the bad times. We thank God that we have experienced his grace, peace, and faithfulness in these times.”
Police said they found the 78-year-old author as he was driving away from a convenience store in the Georgia town of Tifton. Blackaby had used his credit card to buy a Tifton in water, and used it two previous times to buy a soda and gas for his car.
Henry Blackaby is a well-known Southern Baptist minister and co-founder of Blackaby Ministries International. His best-selling book, Experiencing God, has now been turned into a curriculum for churches, businesses, and other groups and is available in 47 languages.
“We have been overwhelmed by the response to the truths shared in Experiencing God,” Blackaby wrote on his website. “So many lives have been radically changed–in prisons; in the military; and in all walks of life, including lawyers, judges, CEOs, professional athletes, and politicians. Thousands of churches, high schools, colleges, and seminaries have been greatly helped and radically changed.”
After Henry Blackaby went missing, his website offered updates on sightings and urged readers to pray for his safe return.
