George R.R. Martin: Walter White Is Worse Than Anyone In Westeros

George R.R. Martin is a fan of Breaking Bad. So much, actually, that he took to his blog after “Ozymandias” last Sunday to sing the AMC show’s praises in what looks to be about 200 words or so.

“Amazing series. Amazing episode last night. Talk about a gut punch,” said the man known for devastating gut-punchery all his own.

“Ozymandias,” which was widely praised by critics and Breaking Bad‘s audience, was such an incredibly dramatic and emotional entry that it’s hard to believe it wasn’t the finale. There are two more episodes left before the show wraps for good.

But the episode really got Martin thinking about his own uber-popular show, Game of Thrones, based on a series of novels he has yet to finish.

“Walter White is a bigger monster than anyone in Westeros,” he admitted to himself. “I need to do something about that.”

Martin also talked a bit about Emmy season, and put Breaking Bad up as the House of Lannister to his humble, underdog House Stark.

Though Breaking Bad‘s greatness is self-evident, Martin feels confident that Game of Thrones‘ Season 3 will still cinch the Emmy given “the splash the Red Wedding made.” Still, this year Game of Thrones will be competing with Breaking Bad‘s Season 4… a great season, but not the Season 5 that has everyone talking.

Martin is cognizant of this, too. He wrote, “there’s no way in hell thatanyone is going to defeat BREAKING BAD next year, when their last season is the one in contention.”

It’s kind of adorable to see George R.R. Martin go all fangirl over Breaking Bad. Given the highly emotional and often devastating plot twists of the show, it’s nice to see that George “Red Wedding” Martin can be moved by anything.

But we agree with Buzzfeed… George, you really need to get to work on that novel.

Fun fact: George R.R. Martin lives in New Mexico where Breaking Bad takes place.
