‘NCIS’: Former ‘Sopranos’ Star To Replace Cote De Pablo, Report

NCIS has reportedly recruited a former mobster, only in paper. Former Sopranos star, Emily Wickersham is joining the cast, but could she be Ziva’s successor?

According to a report published in TV Line, the actress who played A.J.’s girlfriend Rhiannon during the sixth and final season of the HBO miniseries, could be the potential successor of Cote de Pablo.

CBS has reportedly signed Wickersham to a three episode deal, which is not unheard of, to see if she will work out for the role, with the option of a series regular option.

Emily Wickersham will play Bishop, who is a different sort of NCIS agent.

The official description of the character is: “A bright, educated, athletic, attractive, fresh-faced, focused and somewhat socially awkward new agent. She has a mysterious mixture of analytic brilliance, fierce determination and idealism. She’s traveled extensively, but only feels comfortable at home.”

Emily Wickersham currently appears in FX’s The Bridge and plays the stepdaughter of Annabeth Gish’s character.

Viewers are bracing for the emotional exit of a beloved character at the start of Season 11. Ziva David, played by Cote de Pablo has been a part of the series since 2005.

In an unusual open letter to fans, executive producer Gary Glasberg promised a heartwrenching departure for Ziva, and said that after the shocking announcement that de Pablo would leave the show, producers have been working overtime this summer to come up with an acceptable resolution to her character.

Meanwhile, before introducing Emily Wickersham to viewers, the show will have some fun with guest characters that will bring humor to the story.

“The first two episodes are all about Ziva’s departure,” Glasberg recently told TVLine. “And then in the third episode we [begin to] introduce some different characters. And then, hopefully, when people are comfortable enough, one will walk in and be The One.”

Season 11 of NCIS premieres on Tuesday, September 24 on USA.
