Nebraska Coach Bo Pelini Could Care Less For School’s Fans

Nebraska football head coach Bo Pelini is in a world of trouble after a very not safe for work audio tape of him ripping into the school’s fans leaked.

In the tape, Pelini uses the f-word. A lot.

You would be angry too if your team just came off a 41-21 loss to UCLA at home. One problem though, the tape is from 2011. And it reportedly came after 34-27 come from behind win for Nebraska. The tape only recently leaked because the source reportedly just came into possession of it.

Pelini’s rant came just before a postgame interview with the Husker Sports Network. Seemingly unaware he was being recorded, Pelini lashed out:

“It took everything in my power to not say, ‘F*** you, fans. F*** all of you.’ F*** ’em. Our crowd. What a bunch of f***ing fair-weather f***ing—they can all kiss my ass out the f***ing door. ‘Cause the day is f***ing coming now. We’ll see what they can do when I’m f***ing gone. I’m so f***ing pissed off.”

Bo Pelini is not gone yet. In five years as Nebraska’s head coach, he has compiled a 51-21 record. Why is he so angry then?

Sources indicate Pelini was unhappy with a reporter at his postgame press conference. Another part of his curse filled rant is aimed at the reporter, Dirk Chatelain.

Since the tape leaked Monday, Pelini has apologized. He said he was over-emotional at the time and took full responsibility.

Unfortunately for Pelini, the damage is already done. Nebraska’s Athletic Director had this to say:

“I am disheartened and disappointed by the 2011 comments published today attributed to Coach Pelini about our dedicated and passionate fans and supporters. I have spoken with Chancellor Perlman and I have addressed the situation with Bo and expressed our deep concern.”

The only thing left to find out is what discipline Pelini will get. His outburst can’t be taken lightly. As a head coach and a professional, he should control himself better.

Do you think Bo Pelini will be fired by Nebraska for his rant? What should his discipline be?
