Oklahoma State Football Program Hid Rampant Drug Use

The Oklahoma State University Football scandal just won’t go away. New reports claim the football program hid rampant dug use by its players.

Oklahoma State University has been the subject of a five part investigative report by Sports Illustrated. Part three has revealed how the university dealt with players and drug use. It didn’t. In fact, Oklahoma State University worked to hide player’s drug use.

According to the report, “largely unexamined, unchecked and untreated” drug use occurred from 2001 until last season. Some players on the team even sold drugs to supplement income.

A number of former and current players were contacted for the report. Former linebacker Donnell Williams said, “drugs were everywhere.” Three other players admitted to selling marijuana in 2001, 2004, and 2006. Seven more players were accused of selling drugs from 2001 to 2012.

Most shockingly, one player admitted the team would smoke marijuana before games the team felt were easy wins. He also revealed some players would get high before every game.

Oklahoma State University hiding drug use by its players is just part Sports Illustrated’s thorough investigation.

Cleveland Browns quarterback Brandon Weeden came out and bashed part one of the report. He took offense at allegations the university used a pay-for-play system. He said unreliable sources were used and that one of the reporters attended a rival university.

A number of other outlets have questioned the integrity of the investigation as well. ESPN published their own reports with documents that potentially undermine Sports Illustrated. ESPN reported that a number of players gave false information.

The five part series has put Oklahoma State University under incredible scrutiny. A number of universities have faced sanctions by the NCAA for illegal practices. If the allegations surrounding Oklahoma State University are true it would easily be bigger than any scandal before.

Are you surprised Oklahoma State University hid drug use? Do you think all the allegations are true?
