Elton John Is Back, Set To Perform At The Emmys

Elton John, the man who has sassed Madonna, and created dozens of hits, is officially back in action. Following his recovery from a surgery that removed his appendix, Elton John is making his big return at the Emmys.

It’s been announced that Sir Elton is set to make his debut performance since his surgery at the Emmys this year. His performance will be in tribute to Liberace which will happen at the 65th annual awards show on September 22.

It’s not a surprise that Liberace would be celebrated, or that Elton John would sing in tribute to Liberace. Liberace was known for his flamboyant, and decadent style over the years, and so is Elton John. The fact that HBO’s Liberace biopic starring Michael Douglas and Matt Damon scored 15 award nominations solidifies Liberace’s prominence in the industry and the LGBT culture.

This performance is a return to form for Elton John, as the singer had to cancel several performances, after walking through 10 concerts in pain. Sir Elton decided to get medical attention after he walked off stage in Germany on July 5, and subsequently headed in for surgery.

Recently Elton John has received the Brit Icon award, which is the first of its kind. In addition John has proved that he’s not slowing down, as he has a new album called “The Diving Board”, which is due out on September 24.

The Emmy Awards which will see Elton John return to the stage, will be hosted by Neil Patrick Harris on September 22. Weeks prior Breaking Bad’s Aaron Paul and Neil Patrick Harris announced the nominations. Paul earned his third nomination for the AMC hit, and other shows fared well, such as American Horror Story: Asylum, Game of Thrones, House of Cards, and 30 Rock.
