‘Assassin’s Creed: Pirates’ Leads The Charge For Upcoming Ubisoft Titles

Assassin’s Creed: Pirates is riding a new wave of Ubisoft announcements.

Assassin’s Creed is getting yet another mobile game this fall based on the pirate shenanigans of Black Flag. Yes, there was a first one a long time ago. The first mobile Assassin’s Creed was basically an action platformer that brought us back to the days of the classic Prince of Persia, which was technically the game responsible for the series’ very existence. The first mobile Assassin’s Creed simply brought the game full circle to its spiritual roots.

Ubisoft Paris is releasing the mobile followup to Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, which follows the exploits of yet another pirate in the Caribbean, Alonzo Batilla. This freshly minted pirate captain will come across such greats as Blackbeard, though unfortunately for Disney fans, it may be unlikely that he’ll cross swords with Captain Jack Sparrow. Assassin’s Creed: Pirates will be a scaled down equivalent of its Black Flag big brother, but little else is known about this game.

Another Ubisoft announcement in the Assassin’s Creed vein is Assassin’s Creed Liberation HD, the PS Vita title that’s making its way as a download-only game for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Assassin’s Creed Liberation was once a DLC part of Assassin’s Creed III, but it uses a different main character.

As a result of going to more powerful consoles, they are updating Assassin’s Creed Liberation HD to give it the same feel as its big brothers, including the free-running aspects that series made famous.

The main character in Assassin’s Creed Liberation is Aveline de Grandpré, who fights during the French and Indian War in New Orleans. The setting may bring back memories of Assassin’s Creed II during Festivale, in that it will partly take place around Mardi Gras.

Another downloadable game may be getting the hard copy treatment in further Ubisoft news, right here on The Inquisitr.

Assassin’s Creed Liberation HD has not been given a time frame for release, but Assassin’s Creed: Pirates is due on mobile devices this Fall
