Week 17 NFL playoff scenarios

Ok folks we have made it to the last week of the 2010 regular season. The Carolina Panthers have the first pick in the 2011 NFL draft, and the draft order will be settled this coming weekend. However the more important race to teh 2011 NFL playoffs is well underway and this is where each team currently stands. Let us start in teh AFC:

The New England Patriots are in and have home filed advantage and a likely first round bye. The Kansas City Chiefs are in by winning the AFC West, and the Baltimore Ravens, New York Jets, and Pittsburgh Steelers have all clinched playoff spots. Now if the Steelers win this week they win the AFC North and will secure a first round bye. If the Ravens win and the Steelers lose they will be AFC north champions and get a first round bye. If the Indianapolis Colts win they win the AFC South, if they lose and the Jacksonville Jaguars win they will win the AFC South.

On to the NFC:

The Chicago Bears have won the NFC North, and the Philadelphia Eagles have won the NFC East. If the Atlanta Flacons win or the New Orleans Saints lose the Falcons win the NFC South. Atlanta needs the Saints and the Bears to lose to secure a first round bye. They also still have a shot at the first overall seed. Chicago will get a first round bye with a win or a Eagles loss. If the Green Bay Packers win they are in, and the New York Giants are if they win and Green Bay loses. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers first must win, and then hope the Giants and Packers lose. If the St. Louis Rams win they are in, and the Seattle Seahawks win the NFC West with a win.
