Norman Oosterbroek, 43, who previously worked as a bodyguard for Beyoncé, Jay Z, Lady Gaga, Rihanna, and Nelson Mandela, among others, died after he was tasered by police during a bizarre break-in — in which he was the intruder — law enforcement officers confirmed.
According to Miami-Dade Police, officers responded to a report of a man terrorizing a couple at their mansion in Pinecrest, Fla., Miami at around 10:45 pm Monday.
Officers arrived at the home of Markus Jung and his wife, Christiane, who had called the police to find Oosterbroek and fighting with Mr. Jung.
Dutch-both Ooesterbroek broke into the couple’s Miami mansion.
Nicknamed the “Dutch Giant” because of his 6-foot-5, 280-pound frame, the ex-bodyguard was tasered by police while he was allegedly hitting Mr. Jung and taking what cops suspected were drugs.
Police said that saw the security company owner swallow an unknown substance during his violent attack on Markus. It’s claimed he resisted officers’ attempts to calm and take him into custody.
A single officer zapped him with a Taser in order to quiet Ooesterbroek.
He was subsequently taken to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead.
“It’s possible that he may have been under some type of a narcotics,” Javier Baez, Spokesman for Miami-Dade Police told E! News. “Again, he was observed swallowing, ingesting some kind of substance, unknown substance that is.”
He added: “I would like to know what really happened, because I don’t understand why a naked man is going inside a house and for what.”
Baez told the Miami New Times on Wednesday that they were still awaiting toxicology tests.
Ooesterbroek and his family were reportedly leasing a home in the same neighborhood as the Jungs.
According to the Miami Herald, Oosterbroek founded RAD Security in his native Netherlands then opened a New York branch in 2006.
He is reportedly survived by wife, April McDaniel, and their two children.
Meanwhile, those who knew Oosterbroek, or knew his famous clients, have expressed shock and surprise at his death — and the circumstances surrounding it.
