Tyler Perry, NPH Sign For ‘Gone Girl’ Adaptation

Tyler Perry is hanging up his wig and fake boobs from the Medea films for which he is so well known, signing on alongside perennial fave Neil Patrick Harris in the film adaptation of the book Gone Girl.

Although Tyler Perry tends to be linked with lighter fare, he will be playing a defense attorney in the screen version of the bestseller.

Hollywood reporting site Deadline explains that Perry will be cast alongside Harris, Ben Affleck, and Rosamund Pike in the film as it heads into production this season:

“20th Century Fox, New Regency and director David Fincher are firming up Gone Girl, the Gillian Flynn novel that will star Ben Affleck and Rosamund Pike and shoots this fall. Fincher has set Tyler Perry to play Tanner Bolt, the attorney who reps Affleck’s character after his wife disappears, and Neil Patrick Harris is near a deal to play Desi Collings, the wife’s former boyfriend.”

Tyler Perry has been a busy guy lately, but he still is making time for good works. HuffPo reports that the movie star recently donated a cool million dollars to Bishop T.D. Jakes’ ministry, saying to megachurch attendees:

“I love to give. I’ve been a giver all my life. And when people have given to you, and sewn into you. And God has touched them and given you favor… See, they don’t understand it where I come from. They don’t understand it in Hollywood, but I’m going to tell you something about the blood of Jesus.”

Tyler Perry, Harris, Affleck and the rest of the Gone Girl cast will begin filming the adaptation in autumn.
