Jake Newborg Commits To Iowa Football For 2015

The Iowa Hawkeyes lost their season opener to Northern Illinois, but the week wasn’t a total loss. Officials at the school have confirmed that Jake Newborg has committed to the university’s 2015 class.

Newborg, a 6-foot-2, 271-pound lineman is currently a junior at West Lyon High School in Inwood, Iowa.

Newborg announced his commitment on Twitter:

“Just made one of the biggest decisions of my life. I’ve decided to become a Hawkeye! Dream come true!”

Jake made the verbal commitment after completing an official visit with the Iowa Hawkeyes during Saturday’s game.

Jake Newborg is a big win for the team. He was named as a third-team all-state selection by the Iowa Newspaper Association. Newborg, a defensive lineman, was offered by Iowa after attending a summer camp for the program.

Newborg is one of three in-state juniors who have received scholarship offers from the Hawkeyes. Newborg is the first player to commit.

The states other two offers were made to twins Levi and Landan Paulsen of Woodbury Central. The twins are both linemen. They have not yet committed to the schools program.
