Taylor Swift, Harry Styles Awkward VMAs Encounter, Enter Ed Sheeran

Taylor Swift is not very fond of Harry Styles, of the British boy band One Direction, as was obvious on Sunday during the MTV VMAs. Enter Ed Sheeran.

The ballad singer, who has been touring with Swift and has reportedly become good pals with her, put himself in the middle of the contentious situation to smooth things over, according to a report from Us Weekly.

During the ceremony, Taylor Swift, who was seated in the front row next to BFF Selena Gomez, was on camera constantly and never more so than when One Direction was on stage accepting the award for Song of the Summer.

Taylor Swift was apparently not happy to see the boys, (cough, Harry Styles) or hear what they had to say.

Moreover she appeared to comment to Selena saying, “shut the f*** up” while the band was thanking fans, not realizing the camera was on her. Not cool.

Anywho, the estranged couple met at a VMAs after party, as was recorded by a photo of the two posing together, with two people standing between them. Awkward.

According to a source, the tension was so thick whenever they were around each other that you could almost cut it with a knife.

Enter Ed Sheeran, the British ballad singer, he was the mature peacemaker making sure that the pair’s encounter wouldn’t come to blows.

“Ed made sure to keep them separate.” the source says.

By the way, Ed is reportedly good friends with Harry Styles as well, so the poor guy has to play mediator whenever the former loves are in each other’s company.

Taylor Swift and Harry Styles were seated not far from each other in the auditorium where the VMAs took place, but didn’t acknowledge each other’s presence except when Taylor alluded to her hit song I Knew You Were Trouble’s inspiration while accepting her award.
