Costco Ditches Apple Products, Not Happy With Current Terms

For years Costco has been willing to carry iPod and iTunes cards at their locations around the country, however due to recent distribution agreements between the wholesale warehouse and Apple that relationship is coming to an end.

It’s being reported that Costco execs are not happy that they have not been able to gain access to iPad sales and that they can not sell Apple products on their website, despite the fact that many of their competitors have gained those same distribution rights from Apple.

As the third largest retailer and largest wholesale discounter in the United States, the decision probably won’t sit will with Apple, then again it could just feed into the company’s persona as an elite distributor of high end products.

However, Costco’s Chief Financial Officer Richard Galanti spoke with the Seattle Times and has said the partnership coming to an end was a mutual agreement by both companies:

“In the past couple months, we agreed to wind down.”

Oddly enough Apple spokespeople have refused to comment.
