Michael Phelps To Guest Star On ‘Suits’

Michael Phelps is going to get ready to suit up pretty soon. The Olympic swimmer turned mediocre golfer is turning to television. Unlike his USA teammate Ryan Lochte, Phelps will be heading to series television instead of a reality show. Phelps will make a cameo on the ultra cool USA hit Suits.

Suits stars Gabriel Macht as Harvey Spector, a big shot lawyer, who loves to show off his money. With money comes some pretty nifty sports memorabilia, and that’s where Michael Phelps comes in. Harvey will meet the most celebrated Olympian, and the face of swimming when Phelps makes his cameo during the third season of the show.

According to Phelps, Suits is just one of his favorite shows. Obviously it really pays off to be a highly celebrated Olympic star if you want to rub elbows with your favorite fictional characters.

Phelps isn’t the only Olympian to have appeared on primetime. The endearing Missy Franklin made her debut on her favorite show Pretty Little Liars, and then there’s gymnast McKayla Maroney who shot to fame and fandoms in several internet memes. Maroney appeared on Hart of Dixie, and Gabby Douglas, another teammate on the USA gymnastics team made an appearance on The Vampire Diaries.

For Phelps this isn’t his first time on television. The swimmer hosted a very bland and uncomfortable episode of Saturday Night Live, and he also made a cameo on the HBO series Entourage.

Although he will be playing himself on Suits, it seems as though the network is giving his presence a bit more leeway into the actual plot. Harvey and his romantic rival (Abigail Spencer) will be trying to land Phelps as a client in the episode.

In addition to his guest stints, Phelps also got to hang with the cast of Grey’s Anatomy as he shot a promo for the 2010 season opener as Dr. McSwimmy.
