Joe Francis Sentenced To 270 Days In Jail For Assault

Joe Francis has been sentenced to 270 days in jail.

Francis, the founder of the “Girls Gone Wild” series, was found guilty in May of assault and three counts of false imprisonment. The charges stem from an incident in January of 2011 when Francis refused to let three women leave his house.

NBC reports that in addition to a 270 day prison sentence, Francis was also ordered to serve 36 months on probation, attend counseling for a year, and complete an anger management course.

The anger management part of his sentence likely stems from a few outbursts during the trial. After the jury reached their guilty verdict, Francis told the Hollywood Reporter: “I want that jury to know that each and every one of you are mentally f—ing retarded and you should be euthanized because, as Darwin said, you have naturally selected yourself.”

Deputy City Attorney Mitchell Fox asked the judge to consider Francis’ statement while issuing his sentence.

Fox said: “He said what he believed to be the truth… He’s a violent man who has no remorse.”

TMZ reports that the judge expressed “serious concern” about Francis’ anger management problem during sentenced today and ordered that the “Girls Gone Wild” founder finish a level 3 anger management course.

LA Weekly reports that it could still be a little while until Francis sees the inside of a jail cell. He posted $250,000 bail today and will be able to avoid prison until the end of the appellate process.
