Landon Donovan Agrees To Los Angeles Galaxy Deal

Landon Donovan and the Los Angeles Galaxy have agreed on a multi-year deal. Donovan, a member of the US men’s team, was playing out his final year of his MLS contract.

The midfielder and the Galaxy are expected to announced the new deal on Wednesday.

Donovan has been lighting up the field for the Galaxy, scoring four goals in three matches. The Los Angeles Galaxy is now 12-9-4. The team is now in second place in the MLS Western Conference.

Once he secures four more goals, Donovan will become the all-time leading scorer in MLS history.

Donovan lead the Galaxy to the MLS Cup in December. Earlier this year, the midfielder excused himself from the US men’s team and then started the MLS season late.

After helping lead the men’s US team to a Gold Cup victory this summer, he is expected to be named by coach Jurgen Klinsmann to the US World Cup qualifying team.

Landon Donovan and the Los Angeles Galaxy have remained silent at this time although several reports have confirmed the multi-year deal.

Landon Donovan is the third MLS player bound for the US World Cup team to sign an MLS extension. He joins Seattle’s signing of U.S. captain Clint Dempsey and L.A.’s Designated Player extension of Omar González.

Since his three month soccer sabbatical, Landon Donovan can proven time and time again that he can still play at the top of his game, Now the question is whether he can lead his team to a cup victory.

Do you think retaining Donovan was a smart decision on behalf of the MLS Cup contenders?
