Robin Thicke Debuts “Give It 2 U” Music And, Well, Take A Look For Yourself [Video]

Robin Thicke’s new video for his latest single “Give It 2 U” debuted on Sunday, shortly before he and cohort Miley Cyrus destroyed Brooklyn’s Barclays Center stage at MTV Video Music Awards and pop culture life as we know it took a distinctly outraged turn.

Still, while Miley and Thicke continue to take on heat after their twerking extravaganza to Robin’s previous hit “Blurred Lines” — she, in a flesh-colored bikini with an appallingly placed foam finger, he in a Beetlejuice suit and smug ‘yes, I’m actually four years off 40’ expression — the new video contains more than a few shades of the VMA performance.

“Give It 2 U” features rappers 2 Chains and Kendrick Lamar and a battalion of very well-endowed females shaking what their DNA gave them, while Thicke watches with sunglasses on.

Sound familiar? If so, so will the rest of the video.

Thicke dons the Beetlejuice outfit he debuted at the VMA’s and you can’t move for oversized No. 1 fingers, which makes sense since the entire video takes place in a football stadium that’s had a makeover by an extremely virile, tripping Walt Disney enthusiast.

Meanwhile, as outraged frothing from vocal titan Kelly Clarkson, Brooke Shields, the Parents Television Council, Thicke’s mom, and too many more to mention continues to play out, The Guardian makes the point “So Lady Gaga’s thong is art, while Miley Cyrus’ twerking is wrong?”

The bigger picture, of course, is that Thicke and Cyrus’ VMA shock medley grabbed the headlines and stole Lady Gaga and Justin Timberlake’s thunder — just not for musical reasons.

That, and as Billboard reports — the 306,100 tweets per minute sent during just the East Coast airing of Miley’s “We Can’t Stop” segue to Thicke and co on “Blurred Lines,” and the 10.1 million viewers — now sets up an audience for “Give It 2 U” that probably wouldn’t have been there before.

It seems sex, or simulated sex, can still create a lot of noise even in 2013. Who knew?

Now that you’ve had a chance to watch “Give It 2 U,” what do you think?
