Simi Valley Shooting: Murderer Suspect Killed By Police

A man suspected of murdering his mother was shot and killed by police this weekend in Simi Valley.

Ryan Carnan, 29, reportedly shot his mother to death at her Simi Valley home on Saturday afternoon.

Carnan’s brother called police officers to report the murder and when authorities arrived on the scene they found the house engulfed in flames. After fire fighters extinguished the blaze officials entered the home and found a deceased woman.

The woman has not been identified but police believe that it is Carnan’s mother.

Simi Valley police said in a department statement: “Although her identity has not been confirmed, it is believed to be Carnan’s mother.”

Police later received reports that Carnan was driving around on his tractor firing his gun at random people.

Neighbor Anthony Macieo said: “I was working on this pickup truck here in the driveway and I heard five shots ring out…”

CBS reports that Carnan then exchanged shots with police officers. The 29-year-old was shot and killed before anyone else was injured in the Simi Valley shooting.

Macieo said: “About six officers with SWAT vests and assault rifles came walking up the street… They told everyone to get in their houses. We stood in the garage for quite a while. I then heard a dozen, probably two dozen more shots.”

Stephanie Shannon with the Simi Valley Police Department, applauded the officers saying that they “saved lives” by thinking quickly and killing Ryan Carnan.

Shannon said: “Police have to make quick decisions. That decision in this case resulted in an individual being shot by our officers that what I would suggest has been the direct result of saving people’s lives in this neighborhood.”
