‘Downton Abbey: Season 4’ 10 Second Teaser With Maggie Smith

Downton Abbey: Season 4 has a 10 second teaser, the first promotional clip for the new season of the enormously popular period drama.

In it we hear the voice of Maggie Smith, who plays the Dowager Countess, talking about moving on.

Presumably, she is talking to Lady Mary (Michelle Dockery), who in this season finds herself a widow, after husband Matthew Crawley (Dan Stevens) was killed in a car accident that left millions in mourning together with Mary.

Season 4 is all about what happens in this new episode in the Gratham’s lives and the help that lives below stairs.

Lady Mary is one of the central characters to the story, as the eldest daughter of Lord Gratham, she is responsible for the future of Downton.

Mary has given birth to a son, by her late husband, and this provides some sort of security as the baby will be the new heir. Women were not entitled at the time in England.

Downton Abbey: Season 4 will bring many new characters and new direction to the story.

After the disastrous events of the last episode of Season 3, which left fans crying foul, writer Julian Fellowes has stated that all cast members are secure and no other major characters will be killed off.

There was backlash for the manner in which Dan Stevens left the show, in England it was the last episode, the “Christmas Special”, shown on Christmas Day, which fans claimed ruined their holiday.

Series producers have also been criticized for the big gap between the times Downton airs in the UK and US. PBS Masterpiece executives have said that the current schedule suits their bottom line quite well and will not make any changes at this time.

The first full trailer for Downton Abbey: Season 4 will be released on August 31 ahead of next month’s premiere in the UK.
