Obamas’ New Dog: ‘Perfect Little Sister For Bo’ Says White House

The Obamas’ new dog, called Sunny, is a Portuguese Water dog, just like the current doggie, who resides at the White House, Bo.

Bo, who is now five-years-old, is apparently a bit lonely. Well, that White House is a big ole’ place for a little doggie, so the President and his wife decided to get Bo a baby sister. Little Sunny is just 14 months old and was born to a breeder in Michigan.

An official White House blog post announced the arrival of the latest edition to the Obama family, explaining how Sunny got her name: “Sunny is the perfect little sister for Bo – full of energy and very affectionate – and the first family picked her name because it fits her cheerful personality.”

Even the President and his family, it seems, like to take to airwaves and share information via social media. Michelle Obama Tweeted a picture of the new house pet, playing on the South lawn of the White House, showing that the two dogs have already hit it off like a house on fire.

The arrival of the Obamas’ new dog was also announced by the President himself, as he took to Twiitter to give Sunny a warm welcome to the White House.

As per usual not everyone is totally satisfied with the new White House pet, more specifically, with her roots.President of the Human Society, Wayne Pacelle, posted on his blog that it is not likely that Sunny came from a shelter or rescue organisation: “It’s time for the White House to make these policies law. No more delays. As we always say in such circumstances, we hope the Obamas considered adoption or rescue as the first choice in obtaining a pet.”

We hope that Sunny, the Obamas’ new dog, will be very happy in her new home, whether or not she is from a shelter.
