‘The Expendables 3’ Plot Details Released

The full plot details for The Expendables 3 has been released, a day after filming began on the action epic.

Sylvester Stallone will be joined on set by Arnold Schwarzenegger, Harrison Ford, Jason Statham, Antonio Banderas, Wesley Snipes and Mel Gibson, and the latter is signed up to play the film’s villain.

The plot synopsis notes, “Barney (Stallone), Christmas (Statham) and the rest of the team comes face-to-face with Conrad Stonebanks (Gibson), who years ago co-founded The Expendables with Barney. Stonebanks subsequently became a ruthless arms trader and someone who Barney was forced to kill… or so he thought.

It continues, “Stonebanks, who eluded death once before, now is making it his mission to end The Expendables – but Barney has other plans. Barney decides that he has to fight old blood with new blood, and brings in a new era of Expendables team members, recruiting individuals who are younger, faster and more tech-savvy.”

The synopsis then concludes, “The latest mission becomes a clash of classic old-school style versus high-tech expertise in the Expendables’ most personal battle yet.”

Rumors have been circulating about who might be starring in the third instalment of the franchise, with the confirmed cast list also including Dolph Lundgren, Jet Li, Randy Couture, Terry Crews, Victor Ortiz, Kellan Lutz, and Ronda Rousey.

Previously, the likes of Jackie Chan, Nicholas Cage, Steven Seagal, and Bruce Willis were all linked to the film, which will be directed by Patrick Hughes. However, Willis’ inclusion was rejected after he demanded $1 million per day, so he decided to replace him with Harrison Ford instead.

Lionsgate have recently remarked that the Red 2 star might actually feature in the film though, and there is a chance that Stallone and Willis might set their issues aside for him to star.
