Bill Nye the Science Guy collapses onstage at USC event

Bill Nye, host of the 90s kids’ show Bill Nye the Science Guy, collapsed briefly onstage at the Universiry of Southern California while giving a talk there yesterday.

According to local press, Nye collapsed from exhaustion during the event. Reports from the event indicate that when Nye collapsed, bystanders took to Twitter instead of offering assistance to the ailing science star:

At least one student was “perplexed beyond reason” by the lack of immediate response when Nye collapsed. “Instead, I saw students texting and updating their Twitter statuses,” USC senior Alastair Fairbanks told L.A. Now. “It was just all a very bizarre evening.”

The LA Times reports that Nye came to after about ten seconds, feeling well enough to quip:

“What happened? How long was I out?” Nye said after coming back around, the Daily Trojan reports. “Wow, that was crazy. I feel like Lady Gaga or something.”

Nye refused medical attention after the collapse, and even completed his talk- from a chair.
