New ‘Machete Kills’ Images Showcase Antonio Banderas, Sofia Vergara [Photos]

Antonio Banderas and Sofia Vergara are highlighted in the latest batch of images from director Robert Rodriguez’s Machete Kills.

The upcoming sequel features a host of familiar faces, many of whom have worked with the prolific filmmaker in the past. Although Banderas is no stranger to Rodriguez’s world — the guy starred in both Desperado and Once Upon a Time in Mexico — this is Vergara’s first time at the rodeo.

The first new image from Machete Kills features Antonio Banderas and his epic mustache. The actor’s facial hair should have a franchise all its own, though fans will have to make due with the upcoming sequel. Say what you will about Banderas as an actor, but that mustache is pretty epic.

Sofia Vergara is featured in the second promotional still from Robert Rodriguez’s upcoming sequel. Her boob cannons may be nowhere in sight, but that isn’t stopping the Modern Family star from striking a menacing pose. The lady definitely knows how to handle automatic weaponry.

In addition to Vergara and Banderas, Machete Kills stars Danny Trejo, Michelle Rodriguez, Amber Heard, Carlos Estevez, Lady Gaga, Jessica Alba, Demián Bichir, Alexa Vega, Vanessa Hudgens, Cuba Gooding, Jr., William Sadler, Marko Zaror, and Mel Gibson. Rodriguez definitely isn’t messing around with this sequel.

Here’s how Open Road Films officially describes the story:

Danny Trejo returns as ex-Federale agent Machete, who is recruited by the President of the United States for a mission which would be impossible for any mortal man – he must take down a madman revolutionary and an eccentric billionaire arms dealer who has hatched a plan to spread war and anarchy across the planet.
