Sharknado Sequel Gets A Title: Sharknado 2

The geniuses behind Sharknado may have run out of good ideas. Sure, the bar wasn’t really set too high with the original SyFy shark fest but they’ve really set a new standard with the sequel’s title: Sharknado 2.

Yep, we probably shouldn’t expect anything great out of the sequel.

To be fair, there is a little more to the title. Syfy announced today that the Sharknado sequel will be called Sharknado 2: The Second One.

But don’t blame the SyFy network for the lame name. Blame Sharknado fans.

Thomas Vitale, executive VP of SyFy programming, said that the network has been crowdsourcing Twitter for ideas and the internet came up with the brilliantly terrible name Sharknado 2: The Second One.

Vitale said: “Since Twitter played such a huge role in the success of the original movie, we wanted to use that platform to ask our fans to name Sharknado 2… This response is another reminder of how Sharknado has become a pop culture phenomenon. We want to thank all our viewers for their wonderful contributions to keeping up the shark-mentum.”

What do you think of the new name? Can Sharknado 2 live up to the hype set by the first movie?

Sharknado 2 is set to hit the small screen in July 2014. It’s unclear if Tara Reid and the rest of the cast will be invited back for the new movie.
