Maksim Chmerkovskiy ‘May Well Be Back,’ Claims ABC Studio Boss

Maksim Chmerkovskiy “may well be back” for Dancing With The Stars (DWTS) Season 17.

That was the message delivered to the Television Critics Association Summer Tour on Sunday by ABC President of Entertainment Paul Lee.

Lee was asked about DWTS and specifically the fate of Chmerkovskiy, who wasn’t paired with a celebrity last season for the first time since season 6.

Lee told the reporter that “Maks is part of the family” and that “He may well be back.”

Paul says network executives and show producers love Maksim Chmerkovsky and would welcome his back with open arms.

Already returning to the show is Derek Hough, a favor among many Dancing With The Star viewers.

In the meantime, producers at DWTS have already announced a more “action packed” experience as DWTS movies from two shows a week to just one.

With a faster pace and less time in front of the camera each week, it seems like coming back to the show would mean great exposure and less TV time for Chmerkovskiy.

Dancing With The Stars returned to primetime on Monday, September 16 at 8/7 Central.

Expect to hear more about Maskim soon, either from his return to DWTS or because he was spotted last week holding hands with Kate Upton. Rumors had been swiring for a while that Kate and Chmerkovskiy were an item.

Are you excited to hear that Maksim Chmerkovskiy could possibly be returning to the DWTS stage after a short one season break?
