Dracula With Luke Evans Starts Filming Next Week

The new version of Dracula with Luke Evans is getting ready to start shooting in Northern Ireland next week.

Luke has been sharing some pictures from Belfast on Twitter, where the production is based. He plays the main role of Dracula or in this case Prince Vlad as the daddy of all vampires was known before he became Dracula.

This version is a new take on the story. We are used to seeing the vampire wake in the middle of the night from his coffin and find unsuspecting victims, usually females.

Dracula is directed by newcomer Gary Shore, who up until is known for helming commercials and is produced by Michael De Luca, who is attached to the Fifty Shades Of Grey movie as well.

The film is due to be shot on different locations around Northern Ireland due to the similarities with Transylavania, where the story takes place. Shooting will reportedly take three months.

Dracula stars Luke Evans in the main role, Dominic Cooper (Summer In February), and Sarah Gadon. This will be Luke’s first leading role.

“Vampire mythology combined with the true history of Prince Vlad tell the origin of Dracula. The script tells of a young prince who, when the lives of his wife and child are put in danger by a bloodthirsty sultan, risks his soul to save them, and in the process becomes the first vampire.”

Dracula is based on a script from Matt Sazama and Burke Sharpless, who are relatively unknown as is Shore, although he left a lasting impression on his directorial abilities in commercial advertising.

Evans has become a very popular leading man recently, with appearances in Fast and Furious 6, The Raven, Immortals, and soon to be released The Hobbit: The Desolation Of Smaug.

Dracula with Luke Evans is set to be released on August 8, 2014.
