Selena Gomez Radiant In Red On Kimmel, Bieber Off The Table [Video]

Selena Gomez was radiant in red when she rocked up to Jimmy Kimmel Live on Friday.

Which probably isn’t all that surprising considering she’s just turned 21, is currently sitting on top of the world with her first number one album Stars Dance, will shortly kick off a same name world tour, and is now the proud owner of two Young Hollywood Awards.

Add to all that her now amicable friendship, possibly more, relationship with Justin Bieber — and it all makes for one very happy starlet.

On the couch, Gomez opened up about her week of B-day celebrations, upcoming movie Getaway starring opposite Ethan Hawke, and being a new big sister although she has previously described herself as more of a “cool aunt.”

“I’m the babysitter that likes to cuddle and I’ll feed her and I’ll sleep with her,” she told Kimmel with a wry smile. “But the moment anything happens down there or she throws up I’m like, ‘Here you go mom, thank you!'”

Of her final blow-out Malibu party, Selena revealed she had wanted her around 200 guests to feel like they were inside a genie’s bottle and hired mermaids for the starry bash.

“I basically spent my whole party with them the whole night,” she quipped.

Adding: “They were swimming in the pool and everybody’s like giving them shots.”

Presents included UNICEF donations — Gomez is an ambassador — and “a lot of alcohol.”

To which, Kimmel ribbed: “Now you can buy it legally yourself. Now it’s like who cares? You really want that at your 16th birthday.”

Of her album success, Selena said when she was first told she didn’t believe she had knocked Jay Z’s Magna Carta… Holy Grail off the number one spot on the Billboard 200 Album chart.

Admitting she had thought the screenshot she received telling her the big news “was a joke because you can’t really believe what’s on the Internet,” Selena recalled thinking, “‘Oh, that’s funny, I’m not gonna beat anybody like Jay Z.'”

A clip of Getaway, which plots her a “punk kid” trying to get her car back from Hawke who steals it to escape the inevitable bad guys the pair go up against, was also shown on the show.

The one thing that didn’t make the cut was Gomez’s mercurial relationship with Bieber.

No doubt a deliberate move given her recent abrupt termination of an interview when tough probes came up regarding the Canadian teen, Kimmel’s previous on-air slap-down — “Canada, it’s time to come pick him up” — likely also played a part in the non-reference to the 19-year-old on the show.

Despite Bieber’s presence at her party to which he turned up bearing a red rose, Gomez’s public take on the immense interest in their relationship has been frank.

“I’ve known him for a really long time and we enjoy each other’s company every now and then,” she recently told The Associated Press. “But I’m definitely single and enjoying being that.”

Selena kicks off her Stars Dance tour in Vancouver on August 14. Getaway opens in theaters on August 30.
