Jack White’s Ex-Wife Granted Restraining Order

Jack White’s ex-wife Karen Elson has been granted a restraining order against the former White Stripes vocalist.

A Nashville circuit judge granted the order last Monday. White is prohibited from having “any contact with [Elson] whatsoever except as it relates to parenting time with the parties’ minor children.”

Elson has primary custody of the former couple’s two children, Scarlett and Henry Lee, and called White an unfit father who has refused requests to attend family counseling. Elson also claimed that White has a violent temper and that she “fears for her and the children’s safety as a result of this harassment.”

The British model also claimed that White contacted her paralegal “in an inappropriate and aggressive manner” and has attempted to “harass and embarrass [her].”

The restraining order claimed that “This pattern of husband’s bullying wife into submission was a contributing factor in the demise of their marriage.”

It may seem hard to believe, but Jack White and Karen Elson weren’t always on such bad terms.

The two married on June 1, 2005 in a canoe on the Amazon River. White’s ex-wife, former White Stripes drummer Meg White, acted as the maid of honor. Wedding announcements called the union the “first marriage” for both, but White was married to Meg for almost four years. He even took her last name — his real last name is Gillis.

White and Elson split in 2011, and threw a party “to celebrate their 6th anniversary, and their upcoming divorce with a positive swing bang hum dinger.” The party was thrown to “reaffirm” their friendship even though it celebrated the “making and breaking of the sacred union of marriage.”

Elson also alleged that White demanded their children be taken out of a class at their private school because he didn’t want them in the same class as the children of a rival musician he says “ripped off” his music.

Jack White and Karen Elson are due back in court August 29 for a custody hearing. White is only allowed to contact Elson via email.
