Farmville now available on ‘superior gaming device’ iPad

If you’ve ever tried to use a too-small iPod or iPhone app on the iPad, you’re aware of how it is distracting to the point of uselessness.

The remaining Farmville addicts who have splashed out on the devices can rest easy now, as the Zynga game is now available in an iPad version as of yesterday. Zynga’s president of studios Steven Chiang commented on the app’s release:

“We want to reach people wherever they want to play the games they love, and deliver the most fun and social experience on every platform,” said Steven Chiang, president of studios at Zynga. “The iPad is a spectacular gaming device, and the new Farmville app leverages its larger touchscreen interface and enhanced graphics. Farmville on the iPhone was an instant hit and now we are giving people another Apple device to play on.”

According to Information Week, of those who paid for iPad apps, 62% dropped dollars on games, while 54% bought books and 45% purchased news or shopping apps. A Farmville app hit iPhones on June 24th, and has been in the iTunes Top 25 for more than 50 days. The developer says that 1% of the world’s population plays Farmville.
