Helen Hunt’s ‘Ride’ Has Been Financed And Cast

Actress Helen Hunt has received financing for her movie Ride. The actress has also cast the movie for which she will director, star, and produce.

A Deadline report revealed that the cast of Ride will include Hunt, Luke Wilson, David Zayas, Mike White, Richard Kind, Leonor Varela, Elizabeth Jayne, and Brenton Thwaites.

Here is the synopsis for the film:

“[Thwaites] plays a 20-year old NYU student who moves from New York to California for the summer. He leaves behind his strong-willed magazine editor mother (Hunt) and when she hears he’s chucking school for surfing, she follows him. There, he pursues his dream and she pursues him. Along the way she meets a surf teacher (Wilson) who brings her to life in every way. Both mother and son find their own version of love, sex and an unexpected state of grace in a most unlikely place.”

The film is moving forward quickly with Ride to start filming on August 5, 2013.

The Oscar award winner actress is no stranger to the director chair, having filmed the 2009 romantic comedy Then She Found Me. Her directorial debut also starred Hunt in a leading role alongside Matthew Broderick.

Just like Ride, Helen Hunt also produced Then She Found Me, and she co-wrote the movie’s screenplay, which was adapted from author Elinor Lipman’s novel of the same name.

Helen Hunt is best known for her co-starring role in Mad About You, a series that ran from 1992 to 1999.
