‘Supernatural’ Spin-Off Coming Next Year

The long-running series Supernatural is getting a spin-off next year.

Executive producer Bob Singer briefly discussed the new series during this year’s San Diego Comic-Con. Although he said that something was definitely coming together, details about the project were few and far between at the time.

The Supernatural spin-off, which will be set in Chicago, follows the adventures of several monster hunters and their otherworldly prey. Reports suggest that the proposed series is still in the very early stages of development.

Producers Jeremy Carver and Robert Singer recently discussed the new show with the folks at Entertainment Weekly. Carver said the series will feature “main characters who are both human and monsters.”

“It’s much more of an ensemble than Supernatural,” Singer said.

He continued, “Most spin-offs, you spin characters out and create a show about them. Jared and Jensen will be in the spin-off, but it’s an entirely different cast of characters. And unlike Supernatural — which is a road show — this will take place in one place with a wider cast of characters.”

Carver added that the Supernatural spin-off will take place in the “same world but from a whole new perspective.” He described the series as being a “departure” from the adventures of Jared and Jensen. However, the heroes will likely make an appear in the show.

This isn’t the only new project the CW currently has in the works. The Inquisitr previously reported that the network is currently working on a new small-screen version of the DC Comics superhero The Flash. This show will serve as a kind of spin-off of Arrow.

Instead of going straight into a new show, the CW intends to introduce the character on their hit series based on the Green Arrow. It’s believed that The Flash will arrive at some point next year. Casting is said to begin this week.
