Vanessa Hudgens Could Join Sony’s ‘Kitchen Sink’

Vanessa Hudgens is in talks to star in the upcoming horror-comedy Kitchen Sink.

The High School Musical alum has been all over the place here lately. Not only did she star in Harmony Korine’s acclaimed crime drama Spring Breakers, she also appeared alongside Nicolas Cage and John Cusack in the thriller The Frozen Ground.

Nicholas Braun, Mackenzie Davis, Josh Fadem, and Chris Zylka are also slated to star in Kitchen Sink. Natural Selection director Robbie Pickering has been tapped to helm the project.

If you’re one of the many people who have uploaded scripts to The Black List, then Kitchen Sink should definitely give you hope. Writer Oren Uziel’s script for the horror-comedy was discovered on the site. He’s also been hired to pen Men in Black 4 and 22 Jump Street.

Although Vanessa Hudgens is still in negotiations with Sony to star in the flick, producers have already managed to land Rescue Me alum and The Amazing Spider-Man star Denis Leary for the flick. An industry insider told The Wrap that his involvement is pretty much a done deal.

Kitchen Sink tells the story of a group of teenagers who join forces with a group of vampires and zombies in order to prevent an alien invasion. The movie is said to be in the same vein as director Ruben Fleischer’s acclaimed 2009 horror-comedy Zombieland.

Hudgens definitely has a full plate at the moment. Fans of the young actress can catch her next in Robert Rodriguez’s over-the-top sequel Machete Kills. After a short delay, the film is expected to arrive in theaters on October 4.

Once that film is out of the way, Hudgens can be found in writer-director Ron Krauss’ Gimme Shelter. Rosario Dawson and Brendan Fraser co-star in the flick. Unfortunately, a release date has not been set as of this writing.
