Johnny Depp’s Transcendence Gets An Official Plot Synopsis

Although fans already know that Johnny Depp is starring in Wally Pfister’s Transcendence, not too much is really known about the project.

However, Warner Bros. has finally unveiled an official plot synopsis for the upcoming sci-fi flick. While it’s not overwhelmingly informative, it still better than nothing at all.

Here’s how the studio is describing the flick:

Will Caster, forefather of A.I., has his consciousness uploaded onto the internet. Once there, is it really Will who is interacting with humanity in order to make things better, or a darker sinister clone bent on the termination of the world as we know it?

Johnny Depp has been cast as Will Caster in Transcendence. Joining the actor in the flick are Rebecca Hall and the always-enjoyable Morgan Freeman. The movie is expected to arrive next April.

Fans of filmmaker Christopher Nolan should be extremely familiar with Wally Pfister’s work. Although he’s making his directorial debut with this movie, the guy is already a legend behind the camera. Pfister served as director of photography on Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy.

Depp, meanwhile, is staying busy with a number of upcoming projects. The actor is currently attached to Mortdecai, an adaptation of Into the Woods, and Alice in Wonderland 2. He’s also expected to reprise his role as Captain Jack Sparrow in Pirates of the Caribbean 5.

However, Johnny Depp recently revealed that he may retire from acting in the near future. He told BBC Breakfast that he wasn’t too far away from bidding farewell to Hollywood.

“Are there quieter things I wouldn’t mind doing? Yes, I wouldn’t mind that. I wouldn’t say I am dropping out any second but I would say it’s not too far away,” the actor explained.

Here’s a behind-the-scenes photo of the actor on the set of his latest movie.
