The View host Whoopi Goldberg will develop Lounge, a variety show for Nick Jr's night-time block called NickMom that runs from 10 PM to 2 AM.
Goldberg made the announcement to the Television Critics Association meeting in Beverly Hills, California on Friday.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Whoopi Goldberg's Lounge will be produced by her Whoop Inc. production company. The goal is to "feature raw, honest, and funny conversations between everyday moms who are given an opportunity to be pampered...and have their dreams come true."
In a twist, the announcement of a show aimed at mothers came after a week spent fighting back rumors that Whoopi Goldberg and Barbara Walters were feuding over Walters' royal baby special.
On a Tuesday episode of The View, the two women butted heads over the endless royal baby coverage -- and the fact that Walters had planned an hour-long 20/20 special on the topic.
"People are losing their minds...Because I don't care!" Goldberg admitted.
However, she denied reports that she had ranted for seven minutes backstage about the royal baby coverage.
Too bad. Some good ole Whoopi Goldberg whoop-a** on the overexposed royal baby blither might have been comedy gold. But at least we have BBC presenter Simon McCoy's colorful take on the boring and sometimes bogus baby news. Check out his video right here.
Be that as it may, Goldberg reportedly wasn't happy about how the feud story played out in the media.
A Huffington Post report said that Goldberg had even phoned the New York Daily News to deny the rumor, asking, "Who the f*** told you this?"
Walters feud or no Walters feud, will mothers be angry that Goldberg is unimpressed by royal baby hype?
Or will the tempest in a teapot have all blown over and be forgotten by the time the first episode of the Lounge airs on NickMom?
