Soldier Returns From Afghanistan, Finds Dog Was Sold Or Given Away [Help!]

Brandon Harker is a soldier, and spent eight months in Afghanistan away from his beloved yellow Lab Oakley — waiting the whole time to be reunited with the young pup upon his return.

But Harker has turned to Facebook after learning that Oakley had been sold or given away while he was deployed, posting a heartbreaking Craigslist ad as well hoping to find his dog after learning what happened.

On Craigslist, the soldier says:

“I just recently returned from a 9 month deployment. And upon arrival back into the area I found out my yellow labrador retriever was either given away or sold while I was gone. I was told this happened in May, but it could have happened anytime from February till June.”

“He is good with kids and other dogs. He has a unique coat, on his face he has spots of a darker yellow (champagne) he also has spots of the same color going down his sides and legs. If anyone has any information on this and can help me please do. I am just trying to get him back to me since he was wrongfully given away or sold with out my permission while I was deployed. I will also be able to verify the dog is mine because he is micro-chipped and registered to me.”

He thanks readers at the end, and includes several images of him and Oakley before the person caring for the animal rehomed him without Harker’s consent.

Luckily for the soldier whose dog was given away or sold while he was off fighting for our country, a Facebook post regarding Oakley’s whereabouts and Harker’s frantic search has garnered nearly 50,000 shares.

As the soldier seeks his wrongfully rehomed pet dog, do you think you’ve seen Oakley in the Seattle area?
