An armed robber stopped ransacking a house to feed a crying baby, according to news.com.au and other reports.
Kojek Mista and four other men broke into a home in Tangarang, 20 miles from the Indonesian capital, Jakarta, last month armed with guns, swords, knives and crowbars.
The New York Post stated that Mista told Indonesian reporters that he and his accomplices broke into the house in the early hours of the morning by climbing over a wall:
“The housemaid woke up, so I covered her mouth and then bound her arms and legs. I stuck the duct tape on her mouth” he said.
“There were two housemaids, but the other one didn’t awake, so we let her be.”
The Daily Mail reported that Mista, a father himself, became perturbed during the robbery when he heard the baby crying and even asked the tied-up mother what the child needed.
From there Mista had mix baby formula before feeding the child and rocking him in his arms until the baby fell asleep.
Jakarta police senior commander Herry Heryawan said Mista was unable to ignore his fatherly impulses and had to interrupt his crime to care for the baby.
“The mother said it should be made with two spoons of milk and warm water.
“I gave it to the baby while cradling him. Not long after that, the baby fell asleep, so I put him in bed. I have a kid, so I know how to cradle a baby.”
In other odd news, a man claimed that the prostitute in his car was simply showing him where he could buy some good tomatoes.
PC Stacey Paterson, from Walsall police, said: “I’ve heard some excuses before but in the 10 years that I have been a police officer I have never heard a kerb crawler covering up his crimes by claiming to be buying tomatoes!”
In the case of the burglar feeding a baby in the middle of his house raid, him and his accomplices were arrested at a house in west Jakarta later, when police seized two motorcycles, a machete and a crowbar, among other items.
