Geraldo Rivera Blames Alcohol For Nude Selfie On Twitter
Geraldo Rivera celebrated National Tequila Day a bit early, he admits, blaming an alcohol fueled fit of bravery for his controversial nude selfie.
Earlier today, we learned the spoilsports over at Fox News demanded Geraldo take down his sexxay-at-70 tweet, in which after a feverish fling with Patron, he sent out a naked selfie for all the world to see. Frankly, we think Rivera should have been allowed to get down with his bad, tequila drinking self!
But Fox is Fox, and Geraldo’s drunken shenanigans were not about to fly with the self-proclaimed values-embracing channel.
Rivera explains how boozing it up led to the ill-fated nude selfie tweet:
“I never do tequila when I’m alone, but I had this new bottle that someone had given me… The second one, my fate was sealed.”
Oh, Geraldo. The second bottle of tequila never, ever improves decision making.
The Fox star adds that “at 2:30 in the morning, you’re not thinking exactly logically” which we hope doesn’t extend to emergency room personnel.
But it doesn’t sound like a lapse of logic influenced his bold tweet, as Rivera explains:
“I said, ‘Dammit, I like that picture.’ I had learned how to use Twitter a couple of weeks ago and there I was.”
He continues:
“It seemed like a great idea at the time… I figured they’d cut me some slack because I am so old…. I took it down the next day after I heard from Fox.”
Originally, Rivera had even acknowledged an impending controversy in the nude selfie tweet, now deleted, where he’d said:
“Erica and family are going to be so pissed…but at my age…”
