Chief Mark Kessler is an actual Gilberton, Pennsylvania police chief currently getting YouTube famous for dropping f-bombs and blasting gunfire all over the rural landscape. By the way, his colorful use of the language is most definitely Not Safe For Work, so be careful about where you watch these admittedly hilarious videos.
The latest video actually came out in mid-July, but it has taken awhile for the audience to build. The thing is, your first thought on seeing the footage is, “Oh c’mon. This is a fake. No real police chief would do this and stay out of state prison.”
But according to an NBC 10 Philadelphia report on Wednesday, Chief Mark Kessler is very real. But the chief says that his profane YouTube videos broke no laws.
Swearing is protected free speech. And apparently the laws about firing automatic weapons are quite liberal in the rural area where he lives. Gilberton reportedly has a population of around 800.
But WNEP has noted that several locals question the swearing, gun-slinging police chief’s credibility if he ever has to testify in court.
“In the unfortunate event that he has to use deadly force and shoots somebody and either kills them or wounds them…that video tape may well be admissible to impeach his testimony,” a criminal defense attorney told the news station.
In his newest video posted up top, Kessler starts to apologize for a previous rant. But of course it’s a fake-out. He’s soon blasting and f-bombing away as energetically as ever.
And he’s got plenty more of the whackadoo videos on YouTube.
For example, here’s one called, Kerry & UN Can SUCK IT:
According to his Facebook page and his interviews with local press, the foul-mouthed police chief is trying to draw attention to gun rights. But I’m not so sure that the mindless blasting of automatic weapons fire makes the case he thinks it does.
And just in case you think he’s doing a parody thing, trust me. That’s the first thing I thought with a guy this over-the-top. But I’m starting to suspect that Chief Mark Kessler might be sincere.
Here’s an excerpt from a Facebook post Kessler left Tuesday about a rally he wanted to hold to protest something he called unconstitutional gun control nullification:
“Pennsylvania is a open carry state n firearms will be present. So come with your flags n your firearms. I’m calling on all true Americans, all militia members, all true oath keepers to assemble, be ready to march on a tyrannical county government right here in Schuylkill county Pennsylvania, democrats are the true enemy of our country, our freedoms, our constitution, along with liberal news agency’s, liberal news reporters, much like hitlers nazis, time we clean these antiamerican thugs from office. TIME TO CHOSE SIDES IS UPON US.”
Here’s another July video where Kessler is just randomly firing as he approaches a (hopefully unoccupied) vehicle:
You have to wonder if the residents of Gilberton really feel safer thanks to Chief Mark Kessler’s exercise of his constitutional rights to swear words and gunplay.
