Geraldo Rivera Claims Fox News Made Him Remove Selfie

Remember that nearly-nude selfie Geraldo Rivera took last weekend? Well, he’s still talking about it.

Although most of the world would like to forget seeing the award-winning journalist in most of his birthday suit, Rivera seems determined to keep the story alive. He recently revealed that the folks at Fox News made him remove the selfie from Twitter.

During a chat with New York City radio hosts Scott and Todd, Geraldo Rivera said he was “proud” of the picture and had no plans to delete it. However, all of that changed when he received a message from Fox News asking him to remove the image in question.

“I took it down the next day after I heard from Fox. I just heard from Fox to take it down. I haven’t heard the next sentence yet,” the correspondent explained.

His daughter was also adamant about Rivera removing the picture. Shortly after news of the tweet started making the rounds, he received a stern text message with very simple instructions.

“TAKE THAT THING DOWN RIGHT NOW!” the 18-year-old wrote in all caps.

Apparently Gerald Rivera’s entire family was caught off guard by the tweet. He even failed to tell his better half about the nearly-nude selfie.

“My wife didn’t know about it because we were sitting on the boat and people were coming over. And then she just heard from her friend in Chicago who works for Oprah. And the friend in Chicago, Robin, said, ‘Whatever you do, honey, you’ve got to say that you’re proud of your husband,'” he explained.

Earlier this week, Rivera said on his radio talk show that the decision to post the picture was the result of alcohol and loneliness. He thought people would ultimately cut him some slack since he was “so old.”

“I had a drink and, you know, I had taken that picture Saturday morning and I was looking at it, just going through and I said ‘you know, I gotta tweet this thing. I look pretty good for a 70-year-old,” he explained.
