Lea Michele’s Marie Claire Interview Serves As Haunting Tribute To Cory Monteith

Just before Cory Monteith’s tragic death, Lea Michele gave an interview to Marie Claire Mexico, in which she called her Glee co-star “the best person I know” and credited him for making her life “incredible.”

The 26-year-old appears in the magazine’s August issue with a photoshoot and an interview that took place in early June. Some of her comments are a painful reminder of Monteith’s sudden death, but they also serve as a tribute to his influence in life.

She said, “he is the best person I know, he has made my life so incredible, and I am so thankful for him and not only to have him as a partner but also as a co-worker.”

Lea Michele also told Marie Claire Mexico about what having a supportive significant other can influence your life.

“It is important to have someone that supports you and encourage you, someone that makes you feel that you are unstoppable, that you can do anything in the world because you have him,” she said of Monteith.

Marie Claire Mexico’s editor-in-chief Ariadne Grant recalled the impression Monteith’s visit to the photoshoot left on her.

“They were both very nice and obviously happy and in love, we are very disrupted by the unfortunate and untimely events. Our thoughts are with Lea,” she said.

Of Michele’s attitude when Monteith was around, Grant continued:

“[She] showed another side of her personality, softer and more innocent on the interview when she got all excited with some questions. That side was even more evident when Cory showed up almost at the end of the session. She was very happy about him being there.”

Michele and Monteith co-starred in the successful Fox musical dramedy Glee, and she famously stood by him during his very public battle with drug addiction. Monteith tragically died of a toxic combination of heroin and alcohol earlier this month.
