Goldie Hawn Sells Malibu Mansion At A Big Markdown
Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell have finally sold their Malibu beach house, taking close to $5 million less than they once asked for the palatial estate.
The couple closed the sale on their 4,200-square-foot house, taking home $9.5 million in the deal. The home had been up for sale or lease many times in the last 20 years, and two years ago had been listed at $14.749 million. Lately they had been renting out the home for $90,000 a month.
Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell moved into the home in the mid 80s, and it’s gone through a number of upgrades since then. The home was redesigned and renovated in 2005, and features a number of highlights.
The house backs up to the Pacific Ocean, and has a screening room, office, and detached guest house. In total the house has four bedrooms and 4.5 bathroom, along with a master suite with floor-to-ceiling windows and a beachfront balcony.
Aside from finally selling her home, Goldie Hawn celebrated another achievement this month — the birth of her first granddaughter. Goldie’s son Oliver Hudson and his wife Erinn Bartlett welcomed baby Rio, their first daughter.
The proud grandmother gushed about the baby on Twitter last week.
“Welcome Rio! Our first baby girl to join our family!” she tweeted on Thursday, July 18. “@theoliverhudson and Erinn, thank you for bringing so much JOY to our lives! #happiness.”
Though she just turned 67, Goldie Hawn doesn’t appear ready to slow down. She’s still very active and involved with her family and has maintained her sharp sense of humor. At a gala recently to support the Novak Djokovic Foundation, Goldie and daughter Kate Hudson hiked up their fancy dresses to play a bit of racquetball.
Goldie has been something of a confidant for Kate, who followed mom’s steps into Hollywood.
“When I was younger my mom advised me not to start going on crash diets or become obsessed with my weight and I have always stuck by that,” Kate said. “I started eating properly at the age of 16, getting on a regime in which I’d get more energy. So I don’t eat wheat or dairy. It is really simple … mom is full of great advice.”
But if Goldie Hawn wants to spend time with Kate or baby Rio in the future, she’ll have to find a different beachfront home to do it in.
