Christopher Walken Joins Jersey Boys Cast

Christopher Walken has been cast as the lead in the new film version of Jersey Boys.

It’s unclear who will play the other lead roles in the movie, which will be directed by Clint Eastwood, but Playbill points to John Lloyd Young, Erich Bergen, Michael Lomenda and Vincent Piazza as the other Jersey Boys.

The Broadway play has had a long road to the world of film. The BBC notes that a film version has been in the works since 2010.

Jon Favreau was originally slated to direct in 2010. The movie fell apart, however, when he couldn’t come to an agreement with Warner Bros. about the budget. Eastwood picked up the project in 2013 and his first major move was casting Christopher Walken.

Walken will play Angelo “Gyp” DeCarlo, the Jersey mobster who takes the Four Seasons under his wing. Walken definitely has some experience playing mobster roles but he also has plenty of experience with song and dance.

Walken once starred in a version of Guys and Dolls and has at least a dozen other stage credits including The Merchant of Venice and The Tempest.

Of course, he also did this video for Fatboy Slim.

Do you think Christopher Walken was a good casting choice for Jersey Boys?
