Bill Nye Talks Stopping Asteroids, Reminds Us Why He’s The Best Kids Show Host Ever

Asteroids can kill us. There is no if, and, or but about it. But have no fear: Bill Nye the former children’s science guy is here to save us!

While most people my age fell in love with Bill Nye for his simple explanations, he proves once again that he’s still the best at his craft many years later.

So can we really stop asteroids? The simple answer is yes, but the actual practice of stopping them is not so simple.

Nye talks about smashing into asteroids, pulling them with gravitational pull, and more.

Our favorite possibility is “laser bees” which are simply laser satellites that shoot constant lasers at asteroids to change their speeds. NASA astronauts would send a “swarm” of bees to make sure there is a constant laser blast.

As Nye explains of asteroid hits:

“Just ‘cuz it’s unlikely, doesn’t mean it’s not a big deal.”
